We are GSD, we work tirelessly in and around Doncaster, driven by our passion to elevate the city’s music scene and cultivate consistent creative opportunities within our community. Collaborating closely with local organisations, we’re dedicated to fostering creativity among the youth in Doncaster.
Our mission is to achieve these objectives through various means, including live music events, music production, providing accessible creative spaces, showcasing art installations and exhibitions, offering diverse workshops, and implementing community initiatives.
One of our proudest accomplishments thus far has been our role in nurturing a thriving ‘rap scene’ in Doncaster, filling a significant gap in the city’s cultural landscape. This initiative has empowered numerous artists, providing them with a supportive platform to showcase their talent and flourish. Through partnerships with organisations such as Artbomb, Right Up Our Street, Journey Education, Epic Doncaster Red Everywhere, and TEDx Doncaster, we continue to invigorate and enrich Doncaster’s creative community.
Our Directors
Lewis is passionate about the art of writing and is driven to create a self sustaining creative industry in Doncaster and the wider areas pushing the town and the local music scene. Alongside our other directors he aims to establish GSD as a lead in events management, performance opportunity and offering access to quality recording equipment. His skills have helped us build an extensive network of specialists and professionals. Outside of his work at GSD he has built up his artist brand “Balby Local” and performed at various events and cyphers around Yorkshire.
Kyle is fascinated by the world of media and creatively driven. With the aid of the other directors, he aims to allow the community of Doncaster to have the resources to express their own creative passions whatever the medium. His expertise include, Art, Media, Conceptions, and a degree in VFX. Equally, he enjoys film, video games and delves into song writing and music production to further his creative endeavours.
David is driven to lift himself and those around him to a higher level. His aim is to bring more opportunities to his local area and he wants to make sure these opportunities do not lead to dead ends. Since the inception of GSD, he has been insistent that collaboration is key and this theme runs through GSD which is how their community has been built. Alongside being a director David is an aspiring artist himself, releasing music under the name “Junior”, having performed at festivals and venues around South Yorkshire.
